The Policy Update on Science and R&D highlights the most important topics on scientific research and development mentioned in the GWP and FYP. Innovation and research is seen as a national core competence. Hence China builds up efforts in basic research and plans to further open up for international cooperation in this field. The Update describes briefly what measures are planned to promote R&D within the next five years and how innovations among companies will be encouraged.
