Intelligent Predictive Maintenance

Industrie 4.0 promises machines that are intelligent and think thanks to built-in IT. Researchers and developers from four European countries have now come closer to the scenario of self-sustaining plants, coordinated by Fraunhofer IWU Chemnitz. In the iMAIN project, a technology has been developed which allows machines to be monitored almost completely and in real-time on the computer - like a precautionary screening in humans. The data, which can be merged from different sites, are stored and processed in a central eMaintenance cloud. The resulting increased knowledge base allows predictive maintenance to be implemented more efficiently. The results were demonstrated using two pilot installations at forming presses in Slovenia and Germany. The eMaintenace cloud is currently hosted in Sweden.
