Integrated engineering optimizes machine development

Virtual commissioning of a swivel loader by Kapp Niles

In a pilot project, the mechanical engineer company Kapp Niles tested the advantages of an integrated engineering approach from Siemens. Based on the design data of a swivel loader, a 3D model was developed which was subsequently enriched by actuators and sensors as well as the physical properties. After electrical engineering and hydraulic construction a virtual model was created, connected to a real controller, and tested under real conditions. With success: The design can be tested for fault-freeness before assembly and the time up to commissioning can be reduced.
