Driverless transport vehicle controlled with gestures - FiFi

Bär Automation GmbH is a leading company in the field of autonomous guided vehicles. Together with students and employees of the Institute for Materials Handling and Logistics (IFL) a software platform was developed, through which gesture commands could be implemented in driving instructions for a conventional AGV. For this purpose, a special laser scanner with measured value output, a stereo camera and an additional industrial PC were installed in the vehicle. With the gesture database deposited there, the recognized gestures could be used as input signals for program sequences. Furthermore, the measured values help to keep track of the logged on person and to keep the specified distance.
