Exploiting the potential of interoperable value networks

Germany and the USA are among the five leading manufacturing countries in the world and are also important trading partners. Manufacturers from both countries share a large network of markets and suppliers, many of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. The cooperation between Plattform Industrie 4.0 and CESMII focuses on the entire value network and aims to lay the foundation for a digitalised and sustainable industry of tomorrow through interoperability.

Since June 2020, high-ranking representatives of CESMII and Plattform Industrie 4.0 have been sharing ideas on a regular basis. Their discussions focus on getting to know each other's approaches to promoting technological change and thus the future of Industrie 4.0. Common topics include standardisation and testbeds as well as Skills 4.0 (work, education and training). The discussions are closely linked to aspects of environmental sustainability and topics such as resilience and strengthening the economy. An important basis for interoperability are the high synergies between CESMII's Smart Manufacturing Profiles (SM Profiles) and the Plattform's Asset Administration Shell (AAS) . The LNI 4.0 is closely involved in the cooperation as a strategic partner.
