Industrie 4.0: Scaling. Together. International.
Manufacturing-X established as a cross-industry and global initiative – Plattform Industrie 4.0 presents solutions with international partners.
April 22, 2024, Hannover – Sustainability, resilience and competitiveness require globally functioning data ecosystems. Together with its stron international network Plattform Industrie 4.0 shows that the paradigm shift towards cooperation is succeeding. Manufacturing-X has positioned itself as a global initiative.
Siegfried Russwurm, President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI): "The competitive application of data ecosystems is a major step towards securing the future of industry. By digitizing global value networks, companies can not only optimally comply with regulatory requirements, but also maintain their competitiveness and shape their own future in a resilient and sustainable manner."
Catena-X, Factory-X and Aerospace-X move forward
Under the umbrella of Plattform Industrie 4.0, Catena-X, as a pioneering network with strong international roots, will use the example of the "battery passport" to show what distributed data solutions look like and how they are already being used.
In addition, several new projects are currently being launched, because Manufacturing-X will only be truly successful if it succeeds in establishing data ecosystems globally and across industries. Factory-X, for example, is showing how the store floor can be integrated and how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will also benefit. Aerospace-X is taking on the challenge of establishing data-based solutions to increase the resilience of supply chains. And the French Data4Industry-X aims to improve the competitiveness of global industrial companies and reduce their carbon footprint. Together, they vividly demonstrate how multilateral data sharing works across company boundaries and how solutions can be easily implemented by SMEs.
Henrik Schunk, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Plattform Industrie 4.0: "The connectivity of German SMEs is crucial for the success of industrial data spaces. With the Next Level Mittelstand initiative of Plattform Industrie 4.0, we are therefore interlinking small and medium-sized enterprises and their needs with Manufacturing-X."
Data ecosystems only scale in international cooperation
Organizations from ten nations are currently working on the implementation of International Manufacturing-X, which spans resilient, global value creation networks, meets global climate targets and sustainability requirements and ensures competitive strength. In order to ensure an internationally coordinated approach and uniform standards for implementation, the International Manufacturing-X Council (IMXC) was formed in mid-2023 with the participation of Plattform Industrie 4.0.
The initiative is currently developing a deeper common understanding of Manufacturing-X and is fleshing out the agenda for the development and scaling of global data ecosystems. In Hanover, the international community will be providing an insight into the current status of its work and inviting visitors to join in.
At the Hannover Messe (Hall 8 | D26), Plattform Industrie 4.0 and its partners will be explaining the interlocking of different technical building blocks and the harmonization of complex processes towards interoperable and globally networked data ecosystems in industry.
The Gaia-X Community Stand (F25) is connected to the Plattform Industrie 4.0 stand. Other projects on data ecosystems, e.g. from the field of mobility, will be presented there. The European IPCEI Cloud project will also be on show there.
