The consistent digital transformation of industry and the development of data ecosystems are essential to implement resilient and secure value chains. The entire product life cycle is included, which enables a climate-neutral and circular economy. Existing technologies and concepts must be further developed and linked with one another to be used quickly and widely.
For Germany, sustainability, resilience and flexibility of supply chains are of great economic and political importance. Global conflicts and challenges are currently showing us the vulnerability of supply chains.

Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck:
“We need the successful network of Plattform Industrie 4.0 more urgently than ever to get the digitalization of the value chains off the ground and thus their diversification and sustain-ability throughout the industry. For a quick and broad application, it is important to involve medium-sized companies right from the start.”

Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger:
“Industrie 4.0 means seizing opportunities and daring to make progress.
That is what we need and what we as the federal government want to promote even more. Digitalization is a key driver of innovation. It offers solutions for almost all the challenges of our time.
The current focus is that we urgently need more climate protection, more resilient value-added systems and greater technological sovereignty.
We are also concerned with questions about the future of work in a digital world. Platform Industrie 4.0 is at the forefront when it comes to breaking new ground.”

Strategic Projects of Platform Industrie 4.0

Platform Industrie 4.0 will use and expand its network to achieve the strategic goals mentioned. To this end, the platform will continue to develop its concepts and link or orchestrate them with other national, European and international activities.

Dr. Frank Possel-Dölken, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Platform Industrie 4.0 and CDO of Phoenix Contact:

“We are setting up three strategic projects: The platform is developing the basis for open and sovereign data spaces for industry – based on the experience of Catena-X. We also support the integration of mid-sized companies into data spaces. For this purpose, we make the benefits visible for all participants with needs-based application concepts. And finally, we get involved with our partners in international alliances and standardization processes to create uniform framework conditions and in-teroperable standards based on European values.”

You can find all results of the platform in the new progress report (available via this link at the beginning of the Hannover Fair).

Presence at the Hannover Fair

At the joint booth of Platform Industrie 4.0 and its cooperation partners (Hall 8, Booth D24), the focus is on sustainability, resilience and competitive strength. Partners are Labs Network Industry 4.0 (LNI 4.0), Standardization Council Industry 4.0 (SCI 4.0), Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA), Gaia-X, Catena-X and VWS4SL.
Among other things, they will present how Industrie 4.0 technologies can support ecological transformation in production. Numerous exhibits on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) make the implementation in practice tangible. Examples are a robot cell with AAS and the demonstrator from Platform Industrie 4.0 and CESMII with the use case “Reporting of CO2 Emission Data”.

The central event is the Leaders' Dialogue, on May 31, 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., main stage (H'up / Hall 18), entitled “Beyond Crisis – With new forms of collaboration towards a digitalized, resilient and sustainable industry” (Part 1/ Part 2/ Part 3)

All events, exhibits and new publications can be found in our event guide.
