Value creation through data
“For the German economy, there simply is no avoiding digital business models. After all: in the long run competitiveness cannot be achieved through increased efficiency alone. Together with economists, academics, associations and social partners we are seeking to develop proposals on how industry can move on from the phase of digital experimentation to value-generating innovation”, says Prof. Dr. Svenja Falk, Managing Director of Accenture and Chair of Plattform Industrie 4.0’s newly-founded working group “Digital business models in Industry 4.0”.

Recognising mechanisms, providing recommendations
The Working Group will provide structure to the discussion surrounding the business side of Industry 4.0. Its aim is to grasp the operating principles of digital business models, order them into a typology, and illustrate them through use cases. At the end of the process, political and economic recommendations will be deduced.

A strong team looking to become even stronger
Experts from ICT, software companies and industry are already involved in the Working Group – in addition, trade union IG Metall and three industry associations Bitkom, VDMA and ZVEI are also on board. This ensures that a wide range of views is taken into account. The working group is also open to other experts – applications can be sent to the platform’s office.

Open dialogue at the Hannover Messe 2018 trade fair
Business models will be one the main areas that Plattform Industrie 4.0 will focus on at the Hannover Messe 2018 trade fair: During the international panel Leaders’ Dialogue (24 April, 10.30AM -12.30PM, Convention Center, room 1) and the Working Group Leaders’ Round (AG-Leiter-Runde) (24 April, 1:00PM – 2PM, Forum Industrie 4.0), high-level experts will be discussing the business side of Industry 4.0.
