Berlin, 19.10.2015. “Reliable partners and a place where we share experiences – that is a good basis for a successful digital transformation in Germany,” says Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel. “Plattform Industrie 4.0 is laying the foundations.” On 22 October 2015, the Federal Ministry for Economics Affairs and Energy and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Chancellery will be holding the first regional event in the Plattform Industrie 4.0 framework. SMEs in particular are invited to attend and to find out more about the digital transformation in Germany and get in touch with Plattform Industrie 4.0 at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Kaiserslautern. The day in Kaiserslautern is the first in a series of events to be held by the platform and its partners aimed at raising awareness among SMEs about Industrie 4.0. The event with Federal Minister Gabriel and Minister-President Dreyer will take place from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm. The event gives guests the opportunity to experience Industrie 4.0 first hand. SmartFactoryKL is opening its doors to all interested parties. The SME Day will be opened by the minister for economic affairs for Rhineland-Palatinate, Eveline Lemke.

What role do networks between science and industry play in the transition to Industrie 4.0? How can SMEs benefit from the experience of other companies in the deployment of Industrie 4.0 solutions? Which factors are critical for successful implementation? Answers to these and other questions about the challenges and opportunities in a digitised economy will be centre-stage. Experiences will also be exchanged concerning Industrie 4.0 projects that have already been realised.

Furthermore, the minister-president of Rhineland-Palatinate, Malu Dreyer, and the federal minister for economic affairs and energy, Sigmar Gabriel, will discuss successes to date and the challenges facing the federal and state governments in the area of Industrie 4.0. They will present schemes to support the successful introduction of the fourth industrial revolution.

Plattform Industrie 4.0 will present itself and highlighting opportunities for exchanges at the regional and federal levels. Regional and national initiatives will also be present to give insights into their work and show where SMEs in particular can find out about Industrie 4.0 and receive advice. At the same time, visitors can see an example of what digitally networked manufacturing looks like in practice on a guided tour of SmartFactoryKL.
