International Manufacturing-X Council consults on joint mission paper
Introduction
More than 30 participants from Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, Korea, the Netherlands, Spain and the USA met at the Hannover Messe to further advance the development of global industrial data ecosystems.

In addition to keynote speeches and panel discussions on International Manufacturing-X in front of a broad audience on the Industrie 4.0 Conference Stage, the discussions focused primarily on joint work on the organization and further specification of the international initiative. In an open and approachable atmosphere, the participants exchanged views on current national progress in the realization of International Manufacturing-X and agreed on work packages, of which the results will be presented at a virtual follow-up meeting in summer 2024.

Participating countries drive IMX with various initiatives
The presented scheme on the functionality of industrial data ecosystems is the first common basis for the further development of data ecosystems. At the same time, an increasing number of projects are being launched in the participating countries that follow the Manufacturing-X approach. In addition to the Factory-X and Aerospace-X funding projects already launched in Germany and other upcoming projects in the manufacturing, process and chip industries, the French Data4Industry, the Japanese Data-Ex and the Dutch Next Gen SCSN initiative are implementing Manufacturing-X approaches in industry.
IMXC strives for joint mission statement
All countries involved in the IMXC see themselves as representatives of a large part of the global value chain and thus as drivers of innovation. On the other hand, they are aware that they are also responsible for a significant proportion of global CO2 emissions. Based on this responsibility, a joint design of the production of the future and a coordinated approach to its realization are essential. The Council intends to articulate this position in a jointly drafted Mission Vision Paper. During the Hannover Messe, the participants agreed to hold final discussions on this topic before the end of the year.
Governance in international cooperation
The IMXC also set up a task force to draw up a proposal for the further development of cooperation. This will then be the subject of further joint discussions. Key aspects will be binding rules for joint decision-making and regulations on the chairmanship. The participants want to present a result by fall 2024.
In addition, further international players are to be approached in order to involve them in the further development of International Manufacturing-X and the IMXC, thereby advancing the internationalization of the project.
