Countless happy faces live and in color, high-ranking visitors from Germany and abroad, exhibits to get a hold of, and more than ten events on the trade fair and booth stages: From May 30 to June 2, much at Hannover Messe revolved around personal reunions, lively conversations and: the results of the Plattform Industrie 4.0 and its partners. Central topics: Sustainability, resilience and competitive strength.
We welcomed numerous delegations at our booth: Delegates from Australia, Iran, Tunisia and Korea visited us to get to know the Plattform Industrie 4.0 and partners better. During tours of the stand, in addition to the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action Michael Kellner, also for example Engelbert Beyer, Sub-Department Head in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and Bernhard Kluttig, Head of the Industrial Policy Department in the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, were shown around and had the latest successes and exhibits explained to them in detail.
Leaders’ Dialogue
One of the 13 events hosted by the Plattform Industrie 4.0 and its partners at Hannover Messe and a highlight on the Tuesday of the fair was the three-part Leaders' Dialogue "Beyond Crisis - With new forms of collaboration towards a digitalized, resilient and sustainable industry". The event brought together contributions from, among others, Economics Minister Dr. Robert Habeck, Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger, EU Commissioner Thierry Breton and Dr. Frank Possel-Dölken (CDO at Phoenix Contact and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Plattform Industrie 4.0) on the Main Stage.
The first part of the event focused on how digital transformation can succeed under the current challenges: Industry and business are facing enormous pressure at the moment due to the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and geopolitical tensions. Global supply chains show a high vulnerability in this context. Digitization along supply chains and the creation of data spaces can provide mitigation. The second panel of the dialogue focused on the topic that the potentials of a climate-neutral and circular economy for a digitized and competitive industry in Europe can only be leveraged if industry and politics come together for rapid implementation. It was discussed how the European Union programs (e.g. Green Deal, IPCEI-CIS, Horizon Europe, Digital Europe Program) address this and how we can serve short-term needs in the current crisis without neglecting medium-term goals. Important topic in this context: What role can data spaces play?
In Part 3, it became clear that numerous alliances are already working to overcome the challenges and create new opportunities with the help of data spaces. Using practical examples of innovative companies, the panel took a closer look at the organizational structures of the cooperation partners, among other things, and explored the question of what the relationship is between open source and proprietary elements. And: what the actual added value is for the various participants in data rooms.
You will soon be able to watch the Leaders' Dialogue and the other events as a recording here. If you are not registered yet, you can register via our free e-Ticket-Link.

Cable clutter on the wall? On the ARENA2036 demonstrator, cable ducts of a complete car could be discovered: With the help of the asset administration shell, cable faults can be localized and eliminated in a targeted manner - without having to remove the entire cables.
Ballpoint pens were engraved automatically at the joint demonstrator of LNI 4.0, Kosmo, the Nestfield company from Korea and the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Hannover. Special feature: The ballpoint pen was able to independently write out the next production step via its asset administration shell.
At the viewer of the US-German demonstrator on interoperability, visitors were able to view the monitoring results of CO2 emission data from assets during a production process. They are digitally merged and made available via open and standardized interfaces.
The asset administration shell networked - demonstrator showed how, with the help of asset administration shells, smart factories and machines will become part of future digital Industrie 4.0 ecosystems.
