Industrie 4.0 in application
On the way to digital, resilient ecosystems
Introduction
The Plattform Industrie 4.0 and its partners will present their latest results and next steps on the way to digital ecosystems at the virtual Hannover Messe 2021. Based on the Digital Twin and Gaia-X, the Plattform is developing Industrie 4.0 data spaces and approaches for sustainable, CO2-neutral production with partners.
Ten years after the term “Industrie 4.0” was created, the Plattform Industrie 4.0 and its partners have lain an important pathway for the digitalisation of industry: It has matured the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and brought it to near-market application with the founding of the Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA). It has initiated Gaia-X and continues to be at the centre of this project, both as a conceptual initiator and central network for the Industry 4.0 sector. With its contributions to the Förderprogramm Zukunftsinvestitionen für Fahrzeughersteller und Zulieferindustrie (KoPa 35c) (Stimulus Package on Future Investment in Automotive Manufacturing and Supplier Industry, KoPa 35c) and numerous implementation projects, it accompanies the path of its pre-competitive concepts towards industrial practice. With the Charter for Work and Learning in Industry 4.0 and the Three Ecological Development Paths, it is also placing social and ecological sustainability at the focus of its work.
All of the Plattform’s current activities and outcomes are compiled in the new Progress Report.
Current focal points of the Plattform Industrie 4.0
The Plattform Industrie 4.0 is currently working on the development of international data spaces for Industry 4.0 applications. It is working closely with the Gaia-X Association and National Hubs, IDTA e.V. and other projects. IT security is a central prerequisite for the sustainable digitalisation of industry. Based on the foundations laid, the Plattform is spearheading ideas for the development of sustainable, CO2-neutral production together with its partners. These are intended to increase the competitiveness of German industry as a unique selling point. “The foundation for digital ecosystems has been laid – now we want to use the unique momentum to implement digital, resilient ecosystems”,
explains Dr. Frank Melzer, CTO of Festo. He is passing on the chairmanship of the Steering Committee of the Plattform Industrie 4.0 to Dr. Frank Possel-Dölken, CTO of Phoenix Contact, on a rotational basis. “As a unique network, the Plattform Industrie 4.0 brings together stakeholders from companies, associations, trade unions, science and politics. Together we develop concepts for Industrie 4.0 data spaces and competitive solutions to support sustainable production in global digital ecosystems”,
says Dr. Frank Possel-Dölken.
Current focal points of the Plattform Industrie 4.0
These results are now being presented at the joint trade fair booth with the Standardisation Council Industrie 4.0 (SCI 4.0) and the Labs Network Industrie 4.0 (LNI 4.0). Numerous implementation projects, demonstrators and new publications will be presented in German and English. Video chats with the staff and the seven live streams with the experts of the platform provide the opportunity for direct exchange.
The Plattform is also represented with the following events on the Hannover Messe channels. Come and visit us!
