Robot Revolution International Symposium "Toward the Realization of Robot Revolution"

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and its Robot Revolution Initiative met on February 15th in Tokyo with German, Japanese and US-American representatives from politics, science and economy to discuss recent challenges and ways to respond to the digitalisation of industry. The aim of the event titled „Toward the Realization of Robot Revolution” was to exchange on best practice cases of how to integrate and apply digital technologies to innovative production processes. A delegation of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy shared insights into the German context by highlighting its “Plattform Industrie 4.0” initiative. Wolfgang Scheremet, Director-General of Industrial Policy and head of the German delegation provided an overview of new challenges and opportunities for prospective collaborations. Henning Banthien, the Plattform Industrie 4.0 secretariat's director, introduced the platform and reported on its recent and upcoming activities and results. Heinrich Munz, deputy speaker of working group 1 (reference architectures, standards and norms), featured the platform’s innovative hands-on approach by presenting an overview of the Reference Architecture Model Industrie 4.0 („RAMI 4.0“). The symposium serves as an integral part of the delegation’s three-day visit to Japan.
