The Data Act (DA) can be seen as the culmination of a series of the most ambitious regulations that Brussels has issued in the area of the data economy. This highly controversial piece of legislation is set to apply from September 12, 2025. By then, companies will be expected to comply with numerous new obligations, while facing a maximum of legal uncertainty. More dangerously, it will undermine the competitiveness of Europe's own industries.
