The Sino-German Company Working Group on Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing (AGU) Expert Group Digital Business Models releases its 2021 work result – Digital Business Models as Drivers for Sustainability Discussion Paper. The Discussion paper investigates the key sustainable factors resulting from digital business models. The paper’s findings and recommendations will be taken into consideration for the upcoming study on successfully scaling up sustainable digital business models.
“The discussion paper initiates the evaluation on how digital business models underpins the shift away from the old antagonism between sustainability and economic growth, drawing insights from exemplary use cases from Europe and China”, stated by Prof Dr Svenja Falk, Managing Director of Accenture Research; German Lead Expert of Sino-German Expert Group Digital Business Models
The discussion paper presents the use cases under three categories (i.e., Increased Resource Efficiency, Creation of New Businesses, and New Industries). These categories help showcase the common trend of how Industrie 4.0 (I4.0) technologies are leveraged to enable company’s environmental sustainability. Recommendations and outlook are derived in aspects such as policymaking, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure, and international Cooperation.
“The Paper revealed that I4.0 technologies show promising opportunities for improving sustainable business practices, it is strongly recommended to further study on the digital business models as the driving force for the ongoing sustainable transformation of industries”, said by Ms Yuanzhi Li, Marketing Director, Appraisal & Technology Verification Center of Advanced Manufacturing, China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID); Chinese Lead Expert of Sino-German Expert Group Digital Business Models
