The discussion paper investigates the emergence of digital business models from a sustainability perspective. The paper presents and analyses relevant up-to-date industry use cases in three categories from Europe and China. Many Industrie 4.0 technology opportunities are identified among these use cases. The insights and lessons drawn from the paper shall pave the foundation for further discussions on how digital business models support the sustainable transition of the industries.
