Digitising Manufacturing in the G20 – Initiatives, Best Practices and Policy Approaches

On 16 and 17 March 2017 the conference "Digitizing Manufacturing in the G20" takes place in Berlin within the framework of the German G20 Presidency.


Activities and participation

The implementation of the "Vision Industrie 4.0 " is still in its infancy. Suppliers and users in Germany now have the chance to participate actively in directing the development.


Plattform Industrie 4.0 is the largest Industrie 4.0 network

With over 250 participants from more than 100 organisations, Plattform Industrie 4.0 is the largest and most diverse Industrie 4.0 network worldwide. Even at this early stage, Plattform Industrie 4.0 in its current form is a model for many other countries.


Plattform Industrie 4.0 and Industrial Internet Consortium

Representatives of the Plattform Industrie 4.0 and the Industrial Internet Consortium have agreed on a cooperation. It includes, inter alia, future interoperability of the systems and the use of common testbeds.


Shared action plan

Germany and France are important partners in the field of digitization. Both countries have launched initiatives to further promote the competitiveness of manufacturing industries: the German "Plattform Industrie 4.0" and the French "Alliance Industrie du Futur" have now agreed to join forces in a shared action plan.
